Barrie Parks

There are over 70 parks in the city of Barrie, about a third of which can be referred to as forested. In area, this amounts to about a quarter of the area, some of which may be considered under risk of "development".

There will be information about each forested park available at this site as the information becomes available. This will include both the official plans and inventory as well as members' observations and comments.

To begin, I will include what I know about a couple of our parks, including Sunnidale Park and Brown's Woods which I visit regularly. As suggested in newsletter #2, I would like to prepare a guided tour of one or two parks, which would be made available from this page.

Members will be encouraged to visit parks nearest to them and share their growing knowledge with the rest of us. That way we will have a growing database of observations which we can, in turn, share with the City of Barrie.
